Renunciation means renunciation of the goal that led to one’s birth without
realizing the essence of that goal. It leads to entanglement within the
culture that presumes that renunciation of the past is the goal of one’s life,
instead of realizing that when one took birth the first time, one had no past
and yet that goal was not fulfilled. The goal is not to renunciate the past,
but to align the past with the present and the present with the future, so
that one is always moving with time. To move with time, one can’t
renunciate responsibility. One has to embrace responsibility. If the goal
of life had been to be sadhu, then our ancestors would have fulfilled that
goal long back. There would not be any civilization today where every
civilian is diligent in demanding that everyone remains civil in their
citizenship responsibilities and pay their taxes so that he could be enjoyer
of the tax credit for recognizing his self-styled governing rights.
